I've made a habit of dropping by my very talented friend Kate Tupper's workshop in Nakusp to talk life, art, business, and photograph whatever incredible creation she's cooking up next. In this last visit I caught the makings of a spaceship, her latest sculpture mixing metal and cast resin. She creates a level of detail in her work that gives even the steel an organic and alien feel. Below are some photos I took a week before Kate was finished, and can be seen welding with her assistant Emma.
The spaceship has launched and can currently be seen in Revelstoke at the Luna Arts Festival.
I'm looking forward to getting a chance to photograph it at night, where it ignites its boosters and really takes off.
